A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.
These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
