A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on court had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
